Rawwater is pleased to welcome LuminUltra as a key collaborator in Seriatim VI, the latest phase of our long-running Joint Industry Project focused on microbial sour gas generation under real-world oilfield conditions.
Now entering its third decade, the Seriatim JIP brings together global energy leaders to improve understanding of reservoir souring and enhance mitigation strategies. At the heart of the project are Rawwater’s unique high-pressure, flow-through bioreactors, which simulate subsurface conditions to study microbial activity in a controlled, dynamic environment.
LuminUltra joins the initiative with a suite of advanced microbial monitoring technologies, including 2nd Generation ATP®, GeneCount® qPCR, and next-generation sequencing. These tools will support rapid, real-time assessment of microbial communities contributing to hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) production, improving our ability to detect souring and evaluate the effectiveness of mitigation techniques.
Microbial souring, driven by sulfate-reducing prokaryotes (SRP) and other sulfur-cycling organisms, remains a major challenge across the upstream oil and gas sector. The production of H₂S poses serious risks to safety, asset integrity, and refining operations, making proactive detection and control essential.
By combining Rawwater’s bioreactor expertise with LuminUltra’s diagnostic capabilities, Seriatim VI continues to advance industry knowledge and support informed decision-making in reservoir souring management.
