Rawwater is delighted to announce its participation in the upcoming Letters in Applied Microbiology Research Symposium 2025, hosted by Applied Microbiology International. The event takes place in Liverpool on June 12, and will bring together scientists from across academia and industry to explore the latest advances in applied microbiology.
Leading the charge for Rawwater is Principal Scientist Matt Streets, who will deliver the opening oral presentation of the symposium.
His talk will showcase the results of a recent collaborative research initiative between Rawwater and Microbial Insights, Inc., highlighting innovative methods for managing microbial activity in industrial environments.
The presentation will focus on the application of nitrate to mitigate microbial sulfate reduction—one of the key causes of souring in oilfields and other anaerobic systems. Using data generated from Rawwater’s advanced high-pressure bioreactor systems, the research demonstrates how nitrate treatments can be used to effectively control problematic microbial populations, particularly in extreme environments.
This work is part of Rawwater’s broader mission to improve understanding of extremophilic microbial behaviour and develop practical, sustainable strategies for microbial management. The findings have relevance across multiple sectors, including energy, water treatment, and environmental biotechnology.
Rawwater is proud to contribute to this important knowledge-sharing platform and to support the ongoing dialogue between research and industry. Attendees are encouraged to connect with Matt during the event to discuss collaborative opportunities and the future of microbial control technologies.
