Rawwater appoints Malaysian agent for oilfield reservoir souring services
We are pleased to announce that OGM (Oil and Gas Management) has been appointed as the official agent for Rawwater’s oilfield reservoir souring simulation and forecasting services in Malaysia.
“I consider Rawwater’s souring services to be the best in the world,” says OGM managing director Dr Michael Foong. “The partnership between the two companies is a win-win situation. OGM looks forward to offering Rawwater’s expertise to oil & gas reservoir operators and service companies across Malaysia and, in doing so, helping Rawwater to expand its business in the region. In Malaysia, many brownfield oil and gas reservoirs are turning sour, resulting in operators facing the reality that their topsides facilities are not designed for sour service and hydrogen sulfide (H2S) corrosion. Rawwater’s unique and proven capabilities in reservoir souring forecasting and mitigation will prove to be a real benefit, by providing timely data to allow forward-planning, supported by cost-effective mitigation strategies when souring is forecasted to take place.”
“As the leading name in oilfield reservoir souring forecasting and mitigation services, we look forward to assisting OGM through our world-class technologies,” comments Rawwater’s Senior Research Scientist, Leanne Walker. “These include our DynamicTVS (Thermal Viability Shell) predictive software modelling program and pressurised bioreactor studies, which have amassed the equivalent of more than 500 years’ worth of oilfield reservoir souring data. Around the world, Rawwater gives operators and service companies the confidence to make informed decisions regarding materials used, production strategies and chemical treatments.”
OGM’s Dr Michael Foong was studying at the Corrosion and Protection Centre at The University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) back in 1985 when he first met Rawwater’s MD, Professor Bob Eden PhD. “It was good to meet up with Bob again after so many years and to team up with Rawwater to bring their important capabilities to Malaysia,” says Dr Foong.
